Review: Permanent Ink

Permanent Ink Permanent Ink by Avon Gale
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*I was gifted this ARC from the authors through A Novel Take PR and freely give my review of it.*

I really liked this story but if I should name one thing that's a tiny bit negative it's the daddy/boy play. When that's said I did enjoy this book very much. It was filled with emotions and the characters were described with a lot of feelings which made them more realistic for me.

Jericho owns a tattoo shop and when his friends son gets in trouble he offers to take him in as a apprentice. What he didn't expect was to be so attracted to Poe, and the fact that he's seventeen years younger doesn't make it easier.

The writing style is easygoing and filled with dialogues and there is no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings, my favourite kind of book.

I especially liked the pay it forward theme in the book and the progress Poe made throughout the story was inspiring.

The secondary characters was so well described that now I'm left hoping there's going to be a book about Blue.

If you enjoy a good m/m romance this is a lovely story, I'm givin

Buy links:

Book Blurb: At twenty-three, Poe Montgomery is going nowhere. He still lives in his father’s basement and spends most of his time tagging with his friends. When an arrest lands him in debt, Poe accepts the front desk job at Permanent Ink, the tattoo shop owned by his father’s best friend, Jericho McAslan. Jericho is nearly twice Poe’s age, but with his ink and prematurely graying hair, he quickly takes the starring role in Poe’s hottest fantasies.
Jericho is known for his ability to transform poorly designed tattoos into works of art, but he was once as aimless and misdirected as Poe. Wanting to pay it forward the way someone once did for him, Jericho makes Poe his apprentice and is determined to keep things strictly professional. Easier said than done when Poe makes his interest—and his daddy kink—abundantly clear.
Jericho can’t resist Poe or their intense chemistry for long. But between the age gap, tension with Poe’s father, and Poe’s best friend calling him a sellout, they’ll need to ensure they’re both on the same page before they can rewrite their rocky start into something permanent.
Piper Vaughn and Avon Gale have this to say: we hope people enjoy spending time with our characters as much as we do!

Quotes about the book:

After reading Permanent Ink, I wanted to get tattooed and go on a graffiti mural tour, but not before rereading the sex scenes. This writing duo is dynamite, and the chemistry between the characters becomes explosive the further you read. Not to be missed!

-Santino Hassell, RITA nominated author of the Five Boroughs and Cyberlove series

Quote from the book:
I couldn’t help it—the more Poe toed the line, the more I was aware of his physical attributes and how goddamn hot he was when he wasn’t running that sulky mouth of his.

Excerpt:
I stepped into the room, shoving my hands into the pockets of my hoodie, and stared appreciatively at the way Jericho’s thin black T-shirt clung to the well-defined muscles of his shoulders. We’d only crossed paths a handful of times during the years he and Landon had been friends, but I’d always thought Jericho was fucking hot. He had to lift weights. His biceps were clearly defined under all the ink, and judging by his ass and thighs, this was not a man who skipped leg day at the gym.
Fuck, I should not be looking.
“Um.” I tore my eyes away from his ass and sucked my lower lip into my mouth, briefly catching the stainless steel hoop that pierced it between my teeth. “My dad told me to come by to see you. Said you need someone to work the front desk.”
“I do.” Jericho poured water into the coffeemaker and shoved the carafe into place before jabbing at the power button. He pivoted to face me, arms crossed over his chest. “Are you interested?”
I lifted a shoulder. “I’m here, aren’t I?”
Jericho’s dark eyebrows drew down over his hazel eyes. Despite his youthful face, silver liberally threaded his short beard and hair, the close-cropped sides revealing more gray than black. Somehow it intensified his appeal instead of aging him prematurely. I knew he couldn’t be much more than forty—younger than Landon for sure—and I loved the fact that he clearly didn’t give a fuck about the gray. He was all natural, not trying to cover it up with that cheesy ass “Just For Men” shit. “If this is how you talk to your prospective employers, I’m surprised that gas station hired you.”
I started to reply, but Jericho held up a tattooed hand.
“This is how it’s going to be,” he said. “If you show up on time and do your work, you’ll get paid. If you do a good enough job, we can discuss an apprenticeship once I find a decent replacement.”
I tried to protest the apprenticeship thing, but he kept right on talking.
“Don’t steal anything. Don’t be rude to my customers. And don’t think I won’t send your ass packing the second you step out of line with me.” Jericho backed his words with a hard-eyed glare. “I’m giving you a chance because I like your father, and because someone helped me when I was doing my damned best to ruin my life. I’d like to pay it forward, but I won’t tolerate your bullshit. Got me?”
I tipped my chin. “Yeah, I got you.”

Piper Vaughn wrote her first love story at eleven and never looked back. Since then, she’s known that writing in some form was exactly what she wanted to do. A reader at the core, Piper loves nothing more than getting lost in a great book—fantasy, young adult, romance, sci-fi, she loves them all (and has a three-thousand-book library to prove it!).
As a bisexual and Latinx person, Piper takes great pride in her heritage. She grew up in an ethnically diverse neighborhood and strives to put faces and characters of every ethnicity in her stories, so her fictional worlds are as colorful as the real one. Above all, she believes that everyone needs a little true love in their life … even if it’s only in a book.

Review: Taken by Two

Taken by Two Taken by Two by Sam J.D. Hunt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Remarkably good

In the beginning I thought it was a little weird story and I didn't like Rex very much but both the story and him grew on me so it ended with love ❤️ if I should mention one thing it's that I found the background on Nate to be lacking in comparison to Rex and Penny's. But that didn't make the story less lovable.

The storyline is good and the characters are well described with enough emotions that I felt for them going through the most of the book.

The writing style is easygoing and has lots of dialogues so it makes it an enjoyable read.

This is the first book of two as I understand and there is a taste of book 2 in the end so now I just want to go on to that one.

5 shiny stars for this ménage!

Review: Male/Male: A Novel

Male/Male: A Novel Male/Male: A Novel by Seth King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Good

Talon is a writer and gets the idea of writing gay romances but he is straight so what does he know about gay life. He asks a fellow writer that's gay to help him, but this leads to more than help with the writing.

This author make me reflect on my view of some things I do and what my thoughts about them are.
Why do I as a woman read gay love romances, is it only because it's sweet and hot that men can be in love and make love with other men????

The writing style is good but I have to say that the previous book "STRAIGHT" was better than this one. Maybe they where to similar in the storyline, I don't know 🤷‍♀️

I still liked it but because all the similarities to the previous book I only give 4 stars ✨

Review: One Wild Night

One Wild Night One Wild Night by Vivian Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Good ménage

This was a short story about a husband and wife that has a wild night with two guys.

It was a hot and easy read and I especially liked that the author emphasis the strong relationship Beth and Tom have and that's the reason they can include other people in the intimate life.

Not the best I read but entertaining enough.

Review: Straight

Straight Straight by Seth King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mind spinning love story

Henry has always been straight but a meeting with Ty on the bus makes him question all his thoughts about sexuality, is he gay, bi, pan sexual......is there a label, should there be a label?

This was a very interesting book and also a book that was educational, maybe not for everyone but it was for me.

I love how the author question presumptions people normally make on the subject of sexuality, it made me reflect on my own thoughts around the subject.

Another thing I liked a lot about this book is the way the author goes in to the topic of how gay love "function" in the way Ty teaches Henry "how to be gay" .......

This is a love story but an unusual one because it raised so many questions and made me also reflect on life in general, are we ever going to get people around the whole world to see that all people are equally worth? Am I myself really so open minded and accepting of all people.....?????

The writing style is unusual with a feeling of being brought back a century, it's colourful and at the same time easy, I love it!!!!

The characters are well described and the storyline is great.

The fact that the story made me think and reflect on things in addition to being a great love story gives me no reason to give it other than 5 stars ✨

Review: Same Love Same Love

Same Love Same Love Same Love Same Love by Tony Correia
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

*A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley and I'm freely giving my honest review.*

This story was sweet and a little sad. It's not the best story I've read about Christian trying to "pray the gay away". In my opinion it was a little childish

The characters are well described but I think there could have been more emotions in the descriptions of how they struggle to come to turns with their feelings.

I can't pretend to understand the struggles they go through because I have no references. I want to understand because on some level I know what it's like to struggle in life one way or another. I don't feel like this story gave me that understanding.

I think this story was a strong 3 star read but it has potential to be so much more.
